Leslie (a.k.a. Booker) is a trainer, public speaker, yoga, and meditation teacher, who leads from the intersection of social justice, yoga, and mindfulness. She coordinates and co-facilitates Lineage’s 20-hour professional trainings and develops Lineage’s training materials. Booker has trained hundreds of teachers, mental health professionals, and frontline staff, and has also served as a Lineage Project senior teacher.
Booker has been a guest speaker at Mind & Life Institute’s International Symposium, Contemplative Minds in Higher Education, Omega Institute’s Mindfulness in Education conferences, Fetzer Institute, Vassar College, and Pitzer College. She is an ongoing contributor at Georgetown Law, and offers workshops on the Ethics of Mindfulness for law professionals. Booker facilitated a mindfulness and cognitive-based therapy intervention on Riker's Island from 2009—2011, in partnership with New York University and the National Institute of Health. She is co-author of an upcoming book in the Yoga Service Council’s “Best Practices” series, and has been published in the Shambhala Sun. Booker is on faculty with the Prison Mindfulness Institute and Spirit Rock’s Mindful Yoga and Meditation training. She will complete Spirit Rock’s Community Dharma Leaders’ Training in 2017.
