BART VAN MELIK
Teacher
Bart has taught personal meditation and Insight Dialogue since 2009, with a focus on working with diverse populations. He delivers Lineage programs to youth who are in secure detention, homeless, suspended from school, and in high-need public schools. Provided with an open space for shared inquiry, Bart sees youth expose their genuine wisdom and humor, and learn from each other. He is continuously inspired by all that he learns from his students.
In addition to his work with Lineage, Bart teaches through New York Insight Meditation Center, Metta Foundation, and Nalanda Institute. He also teaches meditation at a VA hospital, and at New York Public Library branches. Bart is a graduate of the Spirit Rock/IMS Teacher Training, and the Community Dharma Leaders Program. He holds an M.A. in Psychology of Culture and Religion from Nijmegen University in The Netherlands.
